The days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing colour, and there's a chill in the air. Autumn has arrived! Maybe it's been a good year for you so far. Things have gone well, and you couldn't be happier. Or, maybe you're at the other end of the spectrum, knocked over by challenges that have left you feeling totally overwhelmed and worn out, as if the rug has been pulled out from under your feet. Maybe you're somewhere in between. Wherever you're at, this is the perfect time to slow down and take a few moments to reflect on how things are going, before you get caught up in the upcoming holiday rush. How do you feel? Take some time to think about how you feel. Do you feel healthy? Energetic? Focused? Happy? Or are you at the other end of the spectrum, feeling sluggish, drained, unhappy, and unclear about what you want to do next? Perhaps you're somewhere in the middle; for the most part you feel that life is okay, but there are some things you would like to work on or see changed. Traditionally, people pick the beginning of the year as the time to take stock, set goals, and make resolutions. There's nothing wrong with that, but oftentimes it leads to impulsive decision-making that isn't well thought out. Three months later, the vast majority of people have abandoned their goals, and are left feeling discouraged and deflated. What's working, and what isn't Without all the added pressure that can come with the start of a new year, autumn is a great time to take a look at what's working for you, and what isn't. With three months of the year left, it's not too late to recommit to any goals you may have set earlier on You can assess how your plans are unfolding, and you might even want to modify some of those earlier goals. It's also not too early to start thinking about what you would like to see happen in the year ahead. You can give yourself a headstart by determining what you need to start putting in place from now as the foundation, in order to make those future plans a reality. Enjoy your autumn reflection!
